Khan was able to set up a plant that produced and reconditioned shock absorbers for automobiles of various makes and models, whether they were European, German, Indian, or Japanese.
Mr. A.K.S. Khan and his two sons received commendations from many of the major automakers and their agents, including DIMO, Freudenberg (formerly the agent for Toyota), Carmart (the agent for Nissan), AMW, Colonial Motors, and Willys Motor Company, for their dedication to quality and their exceptional knowledge of shock absorbers. The quality of the shock absorbers that were provided to businesses like Unilever and Aitken Spence Co. also drew praise.
Mr. A.K.S. Khan and his two sons were successful in refurbishing shock absorbers for the Sri Lankan Railway and providing shock absorbers for the Sri Lankan Air Force and Sri Lankan Police in the year 1980. In 1985, Mr. A.K.S. Khan successfully repaired and provided shock absorbers to armored vehicles and trucks during the Civil War by collaborating closely with the Ministry of Defense. These accomplishments enabled Mr. A.K.S. Khan win favor with the nation's leaders at the time, notably Hon. Lalith Athulath Mudali and former president J.R. Jayawardena.
